A mixture of Pop, Funk, Soul, Reggae and an awsome amount of patience... 12 songs on a CD, which sounds incredibly good in the view of the many people who had influence on the result. Mostly for fun, we made a bunch of CDR's which were distributed among friends and relatives. The CD was called Old Fashion, since the new kind of "soul" and "funk" never appealed to us (in our opinion, it's mostly trash). Instead we had - and still have - much warmer feelings for great bands like Kool & the Gang, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chic, Delegation, Brothers Johnson etc... We never tried to be like any of them (even though we played a few covers on stage), but they've probably had some influence on our music. Please read some more about us below if you're interested. |

Some background about the band FEEDBACK consisted mainly of Claes Holmerup and Torbjorn Hamberg. We cooperated intensly to get the songs on the CD together, but after some time things got worse between us and we went separate ways in -93, after many years together in a number of different constellations of the band. Before the final break-up, we managed to get 11 songs ready (these songs can be found on the CD together with a swedish version of one of them) and we recorded them in our rehersal facility, which was made up like a studio, with one control room (combined with a coffeeroom) and one recording/rehersal room.. Most of the help came from our own talent ;) and from an Atari machine equipped with Cubase. The music was mainly written by Claes, with some suggestions from Torbjorn. The melody lines were mainly made by Torbjorn - with some help from Claes. We mostly made the lyrics together. Everything technical in the studio was set up and maintained by Claes. Even though we managed to put together a complete band, with a drummer, two keyboard players, two backing vocalists, a guittarrist, a bassplayer (Claes) and a lead vocalist (Torbjorn), we never made it very far... We didn't get around to playing at live performances very much, since it was hard to collect all the band members at the same time to rehearsals. This forced us to work much with the keyboards and Cubase when we made the recordings. In spite of everything, we felt that we had strong material to build on and the result of our efforts can be enjoyed here. I hope you'll enjoy some of the songs. At least, we had a lot of fun making and recording the songs... |
Other members Many talented musicians came passing by the band, but among them, I remember some more than others: Peter Amoreus (what would life be like without your funky guittarr?), Michael Sibbesson (never ever stop playing those drums!), Marcin Brycki (superb keyboard player and a very nice personality), Peter Asvik (a little too rocky guittarr riffs from the start, but later on it really got funky), Helena Falk and Elisabeth Andréasson (incredibly easy to work out backing vocals with you). Naturally also a big thank you to the great persons Margaretha Nilsson and Callo Ronngard, who helped us a lot on our first stumbling steps towards more structured music making. |
What equipment was used in those days? Speaking in terms of what's normal now, maybe a little primitive stuff, but it's possible to work wonders even so, with experienced hands... |
